Jagannath Rath Yatra (sometimes Ratha
Yatra or Jagannatha Puri Ratha Yatra) is a great annual festival that
originates in the city of Puri, Odisha. The majority of the city's
society is based on the cult of Lord Jagannath, with the famous
ancient temple of Jagannatha as a point of support for the area. The
day of Rath Yatra is decided according to the Hindu lunar calendar
and is fixed in Dwitiya Tithi during the month of Shukla Paksha of
the Ashada. Currently, it falls in the months of June or July in the
calendar. ( Rath Yatra in 2018 is on Saturday, the 14th of July
)
